If you’re anything like me you enjoy selling on Craigslist because you get cash in your pocket immediately. There’s no fees, returns or shipping to deal with. At the time of writing this Craigslist is my number two platform, second to Amazon, where I bring in the most money.
There are a lot of scammers out there and sometimes that can lead up to a very bad experience with a buyer. Most of the scams are petty scams but every once in a while you get someone who has the potential to be somewhat dangerous. So when selling on Craigslist never give out your personal number.
So how do you receive calls or exchange text messages? There are a couple of options and they are both free.
If you don’t have a Gmail account then sign up for one. Once you register for a Gmail account you have access to many tools and resources that will help you as a reseller. One of those tools is Google Voice, which is a digital telephony service that forwards calls and text messages to your smartphone. You’re assigned an alternative local number that you can provide to potential buyers.
The second option is the Sideline app. It’s very similar to Google Voice except you download the app onto your smartphone. You’re assigned a local number and you will be able to receive voice calls and text messages. Check out both these apps and I promise you it will save you a lot of heartaches if and when a deal goes bad.
